Dear Springer Parents,
On behalf of the SPES PTA I would like to welcome all of our 2010-2011 Springers to a new school year. Although we lost some good friends to the redistricting, we are very excited to have some new Springers coming our way! I am certain that you will feel right at home in no time. Springfield Park Elementary is a wonderful school with a great faculty and staff and awesome kids!
What can you expect from the SPES PTA? We support the students and faculty of SPES in so many ways. We provide numerous programs and materials throughout the year as well as volunteers for countless activities. We spent nearly $70 per child last year! Our meetings are generally the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. One exception to this is the September Meet the Teacher Night which will be held on Thursday, September 23 at 7:00. This is the one meeting that is geared towards parents. Please try to make childcare arrangements that night. At this meeting we will be voting on the audit, the proposed budget and PTA legislative items for this school year.
Some of our events and programs run continuously or several times during the year. These include Restaurant Spirit Nights, Spirit Wear Sales, WatchDOGs program, Bake Sales at meetings, daytime programs, staff hospitality events, monthly newsletters and weekly email reminder blasts. Our seasonal events include our Springer Fund Drive, Reflections Contest, Kids Club Sessions, Something Pumpkin/Trunk or Treat Night, Family Week Activities and our first International Night. We will also have our Spring Carnival , Yearbook Sales, Ice Cream Social and 5th grade Celebration.
We encourage all parents to become PTA members and to donate to our Springer Fund (information coming soon) so we can continue to offer the great support that we have provided in the past. We were able to donate new equipment to the playground with last year's funds. This will be installed soon!
Please fill out and return the forms in your child's Open House folder as soon as possible. We have combined several forms this year and it is only necessary to fill out ONE yellow PTA form per family if you list all of your Springers on it! One goal we have this year is to maintain a ‘household list' which will enable us to send only one copy of PTA notices home with families with multiple children here. Returning the yellow paper will help us with this list. We can save paper and money this way! We hope to have this system in place soon!
